But silence is not neutral. It is not protection. This poem is a reflection on complicity, comfort, and the cost of staying quiet while the world burns.<\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center\">How That Worked Out<\/h1>\n<div>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\"><em data-end=\"367\" data-start=\"335\">\u2014a poem for the age of excuses<\/em><\/h2>\n<p data-end=\"504\" data-start=\"369\">\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">The children of Gaza do not dream of war,<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">but they wake beneath it,<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">wrapped in dust and grief and headlines<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">written by cowards.<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"653\" data-start=\"506\">\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">In Congo, the river carries<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">the weight of our luxury\u2014<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">blood-colored cobalt,<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">futures mined by hands too small<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">for the machines they power.<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"731\" data-start=\"655\">\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">And still, the world scrolls,<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">safe in its distance,<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">safe in its silence.<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"958\" data-start=\"733\">\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">The forest doesn\u2019t argue with the axe.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">The ocean doesn\u2019t plead with the net.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">They remain silent, wanting only to live\u2014<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">and they die anyway.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">Those who say silence protects you<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">should center\">sings lullabies about freedom<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">while drawing borders in the dark.<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"1365\" data-start=\"1205\">\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">The heat climbs and we call it weather.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">The storms scream and we call it rare.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">Icebergs sob into rising seas,<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">but we turn up the A\/C<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">and ask for straws.<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"1525\" data-start=\"1367\">\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">It\u2019s safer not to look.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">Safer not to speak.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">Safer to convince ourselves<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">that silence is kindness,<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">that comfort is neutral,<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">that we are not involved.<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"1648\" data-start=\"1527\">\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">But we are.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">We are the net.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">We are the axe.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">We are the hand that looks away<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">and the hand that still signs
